Shipyard and Maintenance

SY Blue Papillon Paint Shed My passion for boating and an eager hands-on approach towards maintenance and the upkeep of vessels has contributed to the high and broad level of skills I have acquired through-out my yachting career. The drive to excel on all levels and to deliver a high standard of workmanship is the basis of my work ethic. Having a key eye for detail has stood me in good stead and made me a valuable asset to past and future employers on a global scale.

My solid maintenance foundation has been laid during my time employed at Maritime Ship Services, Antibes which is on the Cote D'Azur on the South of France, where I have found myself in the company of, internationally renowned yacht designers and high-end yacht clientele.
Daily maintenance tasks were performed in the interior, technical and engineering departments as well as on deck. During this time I regularly visited the Dominator Shipyard, Varno, Italy where I was responsible for the overseeing and quality control of new builds.

I then moved on to oversee the maintenance yard period onboard Sailing Yacht Aime Sea , a 115 foot Aluminium build Sloop in the Rybovich Marina, West Palm Beach, United States. I re-painted the engine room, the main and auxiliary engines, new floor boards were laid and an overall technical engineering list was completed.
A further yard project was onboard the 38 metre Schooner Kaori in the Rivergate Marina in Brisbane, Australia.

During my career I have overseen and managed the haul out and repair of several vessels in Europe, Africa, the United States and Australia. My practical insight and hands on approach is reflected in my ability to reach specified targets within specific time frames.

I am also a qualified varnisher and have worked onboard a variety of projects.

New Build and Refit

During 2012 I was approached to join the new build project onboard a 43 metre high performance sloop, Sailing Yacht Blue Papillion. During the first four months of the project I was responsible as single-man crew to manage the build in the capacity as Build Engineer in conjunction with the Project Manager.

I attended daily technical meetings and implemented and supervised work and change orders. Working in conjunction with various yard suppliers and sub-contractors, I had the responsibility to source and order a complete set of tools and a spare parts list for the new build. (see references Project Management and Captain).

During the London Boat Show in 2009 I was asked to act in an advisory capacity by a yacht owner for the purchase of a new vessel.

Yacht Deliveries and Transport

I have overseen numerous yacht deliveries where I have taken care of all logistical obstacles and always maintained a safe and on time operation schedule. I have delivered vessels in an Engineering, Captains or delivery crew capacity.

Yacht deliveries have included inter-continental voyages between Europe and Africa as well as Dockwise Yacht Transport deliveries across the Atlantic Ocean. I oversaw the delivery onboard the 36.5 metre Motor Yacht Touch (Canadian custom built 2004) from Toulon, France to Martinique, Caribbean as delivery crew responsible for re-sanding the tri-deck underway.

I then oversaw the delivery on the 115 foot Sloop, Sailing Yacht Aime Sea from the south of the United States to France. Both these vessels were transported using the float-on/float-off method by the Dockwise Yacht Transport Company.

In 2008 I delivered the Motor Yacht No Compromise, an 82 foot Sunseeker Predator from Tunisia, North-Africa to Genoa, Italy as the delivery Captain. (see reference MY No Compromise, MY Lady Z)
